Track roller for Hitachi excavator:

The track roller is used to support the weight of the tractor and roll on the track (rail chain) or track shoe. It is also used to limit the track and prevent lateral slippage. When the tractor steers, the track rollers force the track to slip on the ground.

Excavator lower rollers are often in mud, water and dust, and bear strong impact. Therefore, they are required to be sealed reliably and wear-resistant.

Types:

The type of excavator bottom rollers used in combination track is different from that used in integral or rubber track: the supporting wheels of combination track roll on the guide rail while the supporting wheels of integral or rubber track roll on the track board.

There are two types of down roller for combined track, as shown in the following figure.One is single flange, the other is double flange. The former is easy to manufacture, so it is more widely used, while the latter is less used. The purpose of flanges is to prevent the relative lateral movement of the track against it, so as to prevent derailment when turning. Usually the height of flange H = 10-20 mm. In order to reduce the friction between the flange side and the guide rail side, the flange side is often made into an inclined plane with a slope angle of 20 ~30 degree.

Integral or rubber track, because the inner surface of the track board is cast with raised Chlamys to prevent the lateral movement of the track to the supporting wheel, so its supporting wheel flange is straight without flange. But each supporting wheel must have double-row rims, as shown in the figure below.

The number of supporting wheels can make the grounding pressure of the track more uniform, so that walking on the wet and soft soil can reduce the subsidence, but on the other hand, because the length of the track is certain, the number of supporting wheels is more, the diameter of each must be small, which increases the rolling resistance, generally speaking as a combine harvester. The number of supporting wheels is usually 3 to 4, and a few of them are 6.

The diameter of the supporting wheel D and the pitch P of the track shall be roughly maintained in the following proportion.

Combination track D/P=1-1.5

For integral or rubber trackD/P=1.5-3

Sliding bearings (such as iron-based powder metallurgy oil bearing) are commonly used for supporting wheels, but rolling bearings are also useful.No matter which bearing is used, it is necessary to prevent mud from entering. The flange of the supporting wheel should be wear-resistant. It is generally made of 50mn steel. The hardness of the flange surface after quenching is no less than HRC53.
