Working Principle and Working Principle of Guide Wheel Assembly

Grease is injected into the butter cylinder through the butter nozzle with a butter gun, so that the piston extends outward to push the tension spring, and the guide wheel moves left to tighten the caterpillar. The tightening spring has an appropriate travel. When the tension force is too large, the spring is compressed to act as a buffer; when the tension force is too large disappears, the compressed spring pushes the guide wheel in place, so that the compressed spring pushes the guide wheel in place. It can ensure the sliding along the crawler frame to change the wheelbase, ensure the disassembly and assembly of the crawler, reduce the impact of the walking process, and avoid derailment of the track chain.

The main reason for the damage of the guide wheel assembly is the poor lubrication of the guide wheel axle.   The main reasons are as follows.

  1. The bimetal sleeve sliding bearings of guide wheels have different axiality overshoots, and the crawler runs with vibration and impact. Once the geometric dimension is overshoot, the clearance between guide wheels and sleeves is too small or no clearance, and the thickness of lubricating oil film is not enough or even no lubricating oil film.

  2. Surface roughness of guide axle is over-tolerance. There are many metal prisms on the surface of the shaft, which destroy the integrity and continuity of the lubrication film between the shaft and the sliding bearing. When working, a large number of metal debris will be produced in lubricating oil, which will increase the surface roughness of the shaft and bearing, worsen the lubrication condition, and cause serious wear of guide axle and sliding bearing.

  3. The original structure is defective. Lubricating oil is injected from the screw plug hole at the shaft end of the guide wheel, and then gradually fills the whole cavity. In practice, if there is no special tool for oil injection, it is very difficult for lubricating oil to pass through the circuitous cavity of the guide wheel only under the action of its own gravity, and the gas in the cavity is not expelled smoothly, so the lubricating oil is difficult to fill. The oil filling space of the original engine chamber is too small, resulting in a serious shortage of lubricating oil.

  4. Lubricating oil in the gap between guide axle and bush can not take away the heat generated by the bearing because there is no oil passage. As a result, the working temperature of the bearing increases, the viscosity of the lubricating oil decreases, and the thickness of the lubricating oil film decreases.
